How does the Rental work?
At Rent the Couture, we make dress rental simple, seamless, and stress-free. Whether you’re visiting us in Toronto or renting from anywhere in Canada, our process is designed to help you find the perfect look for your special event with ease.
1. Browse the Collection
Start by exploring our designer dress collection online. You can browse by occasion, style, size, and availability to find the look that fits your event best. Our dresses and accessories are available for rent across Canada.
2. Try It On
If you’re in the Toronto area, you can book a try-on appointment directly through our website and visit our studio to see styles in person. If your preferred appointment time is unavailable, you can call us on the day you plan to visit and we’ll do our best to accommodate you, subject to availability. We also offer virtual try-on appointments for customers who are shopping from a distance.
3. Reserve Your Dress
Once you’ve found the one, you can reserve your dress online, in person, or by phone. Simply select your size, rental date, and rental duration, then choose whether you would like in-store pickup or two-way shipping at checkout. All bookings are first-come, first-served, so we recommend reserving early for the best selection.
Reserving online? Select your size, date, and rental duration when adding to your cart, then choose between our simple two-way shipping or pick-up options at checkout. Your rental period begins on the date you choose to receive your dress.
4. Receive It Before Your Event
Shipping time is on us and we ensure the dress arrives on the first date of your rental period!
For example, if your event is on Saturday, August 15, select Thursday, August 13, as your start date for your 4-day rental. Your dress will arrive on August 13, and you’ll need to return or ship-it it by Sunday evening on August 16.
This gives you time to receive your dress, enjoy your event, and return it by the agreed deadline.
5. Wear It and Enjoy
Wear your dress and enjoy your event. We take care of the dry cleaning, so there is no need to have the garment cleaned before returning it. Minor wear and tear from normal use is expected and handled by our in-house team. To help keep each piece in beautiful condition, we ask that you avoid perfume, spray tan, and any alterations, including hem tape.
6. Return It With Ease
Returning your rental is easy. If your order was shipped, your package will include a prepaid return label. Simply place the dress back in the reusable packaging, attach the label provided, and drop it off with the specified carrier on the last day of your rental. You can also return your rental in person at our studio during operating hours. In-person returns must be made by closing time on the return date.
Helpful Rental Information
Cancellations and Store Credit
Rental payments are non-refundable. If you need to cancel before your rental period or before your dress has shipped, we issue store credit with no expiry. This is because your selected dress is reserved exclusively for your dates and taken out of inventory for other customers.
Rescheduling
If your event is postponed, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance. Your first reschedule is free, subject to availability. Any additional reschedules are subject to a $50 fee. If you do not yet know your new event date, we can issue a credit toward a future rental.
Dress Swaps
Need to switch styles before pickup or shipping? You can swap to another available dress. If the new dress is priced higher, you simply pay the difference. If it is lower, the difference is issued to you as store credit with no expiry.
Rental Insurance
We also offer an optional $9 rental insurance add-on, which covers small stains, snags, and minor repairs. It does not cover major damage, lost items, or gross negligence, and it is non-refundable if unused.
Late Returns and Non-Returns
Late returns are subject to a $25 per day, per item late fee so we can protect availability for the next customer. If a rental is not returned, the full retail value of the item, along with applicable rental and late fees, may be charged.
